# Get Funds on Arbitrum

PrigeeX runs on the **Arbitrum** network. Before you can trade, your tokens need to be
on Arbitrum, including a little **ETH** to pay network fees ("[gas](../reference/glossary)").

## Why Arbitrum?

Arbitrum is a **Layer 2** network: think of it as a fast, low-cost express lane built
on top of Ethereum. It has the same security as Ethereum, but transactions settle in
seconds and typically cost only a few cents. That's why PrigeeX uses it.

## Two common ways to get funds on Arbitrum

### Option A: Buy directly on an exchange and withdraw to Arbitrum

The easiest route for most people:

1. Buy ETH (and/or USDC) on a major exchange such as Coinbase, Binance, or Kraken.
2. When withdrawing to your wallet, **choose the Arbitrum network** (often shown as
   "Arbitrum One") as the withdrawal network.
3. Paste your wallet address, confirm, and the funds arrive on Arbitrum in a few minutes.

<Warning>
  **Pick the right network when withdrawing.** If you send funds on "Ethereum" instead of
  "Arbitrum", they won't show up on PrigeeX until you bridge them over (see Option B), and
  you'll pay higher fees. Double-check the network before confirming.

### Option B: Bridge from Ethereum to Arbitrum

If you already hold funds on the main Ethereum network, you can move them to Arbitrum
using the official **Arbitrum Bridge** (bridge.arbitrum.io). A bridge simply moves your
tokens from one network to another. You'll pay an Ethereum network fee to do this, so
Option A is usually cheaper if you're starting fresh.

## Make sure your wallet is on Arbitrum

Your wallet can connect to many networks. To see your Arbitrum funds, your wallet needs
to be switched to **Arbitrum One**.

* The easiest way: when you connect to PrigeeX, if you're on the wrong network, PrigeeX
  will show a button to **switch to Arbitrum One** automatically, just click it and
  approve in your wallet.
* You can also switch networks manually inside your wallet app.

## A quick checklist before you trade

* [ ] I have a small amount of **ETH on Arbitrum** for gas
* [ ] I have the **token I want to trade** (e.g. USDC) on Arbitrum
* [ ] My wallet is switched to the **Arbitrum One** network
